Andrea Gómez Carlota Juncosa Jonathan Millán Laura Llaneli Mireia C. They wanted to talk about a project that they didn’t know how would it go and that they didn’t want it to be a mere wish list. The trip was planned and the tickets bought, there was the will to make an exhibition abroad when it is like an “honour” and a privilege for those who achieved an artistic trajectory, and it existed the possibility of setting up an exhibition in a very particular space. This is how one Monday we set up a meeting and we ate another salmon at Hangar. This is an open centre for research and artistic production that helps creators by offering work spaces and services, like access to material and technical resources, but also promotes an experimental and free context for sharing knowledge and thinking. Our meeting was infused in that “out of rules” spirit and an in this absence of objectives – at least from the theoretical point of view – although it was full of the enthusiasm required for making projects shaped by unknown paths and imposture. After our talk it was clear that more than an exhibition, this show was about to be part of a process that started with a dinner party, got the shape of a trip which will materialize itself into a one week exhibition, and it will go back to where it came from: each one’s home. Inside a loop of indecision, watching the time going by, and getting towards nowhere, Sonia Fernández Pan passed by chance by Hangar. She sat where we were with the excuse of having a break, smoking a cigarette and leaving as soon as she would be done. Talking about this and that with the will of going back to our work as soon as Sonia would have finished her cigarette, she came up with the title of the project. From that moment on, it was not only about an exhibition but a process where anyone could participate as far as contributed with something. With seven artists and a consulted curator, the project starts with seven artists and two curators willing to take the whole advantage of this experience, working on pieces that will take shape during the following days. After adopting as working process a kind of chain work like an “exquisite corpse”, it seems – also judging by the images sent by Mireia from Helsinki – that the exhibition room will exhibit pieces which will react on the space itself. It’s not any kind of space, it’s two meters high and the floor looks like a checkerboard…

AINIAAKSI O PARA SIEMPRE

A Celeste Najt exhibition

Ainiaaksi (for all time, for all eternity); chiefly used in contexts where something or someone is gone for ever.
Para Siempre 1. to take forever (to do something)
2. para siempre (until end of time); constantemente (repeatedly)

CHAOS IS COME AGAIN

It’s the job of writers and explorers to see more, to travel light when it comes to preconception, to go into the dark with their eyes open.

– Rebecca Solnit, Woolf’s Darkness: Embracing the Inexplicable

There is a geometry here. There is form to this chaos, or an attempt. Figures in the chatter, the constant stream of collected ephemera, conversation, memory. Words overheard, places seen, people known.

A map to the recollection. In these works, chaos reigns, the chaos of one life, lived. Amidst the chaos: calm hues and known figures. Geometry of forms, shapes of recognition, of suggestion. A rearview mirror or a television. A teardrop or a wing. A wing or a feather or a harp. An inability, a refusal, to stay within the frame. These works are shape-driven, shape-shifting. Cubes in part filled in, sides sliding away.

And beyond the page, the canvas, the wooden base, three-dimensional forms appear, expanding the pieces out, beyond. A relentless attempt to leave.

Escape. Échapper. Huir. A life in flux, in chaos. Making meaning out of staying, out of going. A triangle or a mountain or a diamond or a roof (techo, toit). Home?
Ainiaaksi.

Milloin teko on moraalinen?
NYTE ry on porilainen taiteilijaseura, jonka keskus on Galleria 3H+K. Näyttely on toteutettu vaihtonäyttelynä yhteistyössä XL Art Spacen kanssa Poriin kuratoidun Vieras näköpiirissä -näyttelyn sekä NYTEn Kuuntele -näyttelyn muodossa.
Taiteilijat: Juho Hakala, Sari Hiltunen, Toni Lehtola, Juuso Leppälä, Markus Luiro, Hanna Luukkonen, Laura Myllykangas, Aino Mäntynen, Henna Tyrväinen, Jenni Uusitalo

The exhibition consists of little stories concerning morality. Everyone has done something wrong, something against prevailing conceptions of good or moral way of behaving. What defines the goodness of the deed? Is it by law, religion or one’s own subjective idea of morality? When is an act considered to be a moral one? Is consciousness defined by general reprehension or fear of consequences more than one’s own idea of moral? The concept of moral is vague and disputed one. In the end one is left alone with her choices. The exhibition welcomes you to step in the shoes of an anonymous other revealing his evil thoughts and deeds.
NYTE is an artist’s association from Pori. The association runs an alternative art space Gallery 3H+K. This exhibition is an exchange with the “Vieras näköpiirissä” exhibition, curated by XL Art Space and currently on view at Gallery 3H+K.
The stories are mainly in Finnish.

When an image of a space is drawn on a paper according to perspective theory, an educated brain can interpret the image as a representation of a space, but no one tries to step into the image.
XL Art Space presents a spatial installation consisting of mirrors and a video projection. The show is based on the black-and-white grid pattern of the floor of the space, and the visual mechanisms of perceiving space / reality. The chessboard pattern, the grid, is used in perspective theory and computer graphics to make spatial presentations. The exhibition ponders on the ways of representing space in an experiential space.
Paula Lehtonen (b. 1983, Kemi) is a media artist based in Helsinki. As she has grown up, she has started to interpret things that previously felt psychedelic, as deficiencies of visual perception. All mysticism disappears and turns into processed information, when a visual artist becomes familiar with the means of images. The works of Lehtonen often explore the relativity of the concept of reality and forms of aesthetics born in the digital world. Humour and graphical qualities are characteristic to her comprehensive works. Lehtonen has studied fine arts at the Tampere University of Applied Sciences, and at the Media Lab of Aalto University’s School of Arts, Design and Architecture. Lehtonen also enjoys writing about herself in the third sense.

Mistä alkaa matka.
Naapurimme kuoli tänään. Näin ambulanssin kun menin kaupunkiin puoliltapäivin. Illalla menin tarkistamaan tilanteen. Illalla otin valokuvan portailta.

Milloin alkaa aika.
Olen turisti omassa kaupungissani, en ole kotona. Käänteinen luokkaretki, tuomittu epäonnistumaan. Tästä tulee hyvä. Eirasta Kallioon. Kaksitoista päivää kadulla. Hitaasti tanssin läpi kaupungin ja merkitsen piirustuksin ja muistiinpanoin. Joka päivä esitellään ja dokumentoidaan. Kukaan ei tiedä tarkalleen missä olen. Olen täällä. Paikalla, kokeillen paikkaa. Paperi on peilini, liitu sieluni.

Når begynner tiden.
